What is Twitter?
Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows you to send and read 140 character updates, otherwise known as tweets. It's sort of like the status updates on Facebook, but instead of having 'friends' you can pick whose updates you want to 'follow' and they can choose to follow you back, or not. You don't have to know the people you decide to follow, and if you follow someone they won't necessary follow back — you only follow the people you find interesting.
