Q: How often do you trade?
A: Trades can be anything from 3 to 10 times per month depending on market conditions. At all other times we remain cash only and do not trade as it is vitally important to preserve capital and exercise proper money management.
Q: Do you have a recent example of your performance?
A: Yes. Please see our Performance page. Click here
Q: Why don’t you leave trades running until the next signal?
A: This type of trading is called swing trading and we do not trade that. It carries much larger risk of whipping out your capital than our own system which aims to close the trades overnight or the latest the following day. In this way we take advantage of less volatility and hence less risk in our trading.
Q: What financial instruments can I use to trade the Dow Jones using your system?
A: You can use any financial instrument such as spread betting, CFDs, etc. as long as your broker allows you to trade the ^DJI in the after hours futures market! Our system is best suited for spread betting and CFDs.
Q: Can I start spread bet trading with just £200
A: Whilst it is possible to start spread betting the Dow with just £200, we would advise to start with £600 minimum. Our usual stop loss distance is 60 points and so far since 2006 our best performance has been 12 winning trades in a row and we also had a period with 3 losses in a row. If you do the maths based on trading @ £1 per point with a 60 points stop loss per trade x 3 = £180 loss which would leave you only with £20 to continue trading... not enough cash for your next trade! Whilst you might be lucky and come in at a period where the system delivers 5-6 or more winning trades in a row before you encounter a loss we would not advise such low start up capital. Most sound money management education articles advise people to trade with no more than 5-10% of their trading capital in order to allow for drawdowns and still be able to continue trading!
Q: Do you have auto-trade partnership with any broker?
A: We are looking into that and will inform our subscribers if and when we begin to offer this feature.
Q: My broker does not allow trading in the after hours market. Can I still use the DowLetter.com service?
A: We would not recommended that! It is crucial to our trading strategy that we’re able to open and close trades in the after hours markets. We would strongly advice you to find a new broker which allows after hours trading.
Q: I subscribed today, but did not receive a signal even though your website shows a trade. Why?
A: Please note that it takes up to 48 hours for your account to be processed and activated.
Q: I would like to advertise on your website. How much does it cost?
A: Please email advertising@dowletter.com with the nature of what you wish to advertise and for details on pricing.
Q: Your website does not seem to work properly. What’s wrong?
A: Our website is best viewed in the latest Safari or Firefox web browsers. If you are using an older version of Internet Explorer you may experience difficulties in viewing our content. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version available.
